A rhythm that perfectly matched the models’ catlike walk, dimmed lights, and a space where almost nothing could be seen except the creations soon to land on both your wish list and mine: this was how Catherine Holstein, founder and creative director of Khaite, presented the brand’s Spring 2027 collection. The show was held in a minimalist warehouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, with dramatically focused lighting, while music by PJ Harvey heightened the atmosphere even further. Kaia Gerber opened the show in a look that immediately signalled what was to come: a leather midi skirt and a sculptural white top.

Over the past decade, Khaite has developed a distinctive language of New York luxury: leather, statement shoulders, precise tailoring, and sensual silhouettes have become almost synonymous with the brand’s philosophy. This season, Holstein softened these signature codes ever so slightly, bringing a little more romance, tenderness, and imperfection into focus. Dresses made a particularly strong contribution to this romantic direction, ranging from simple black and cream slip styles to corseted constructions, sheer fabrics with hand-embroidered flowers, defined waists, ruffles, bows, and skirts.
This time, inspiration also came from Venice. Backstage, the designer spoke about the time she had spent in the city with her husband, including stays at the Gritti Palace hotel, whose interiors served as the starting point for the floral and equestrian motifs. Particular emphasis was placed on craftsmanship: hand-knitted flowers, hand-finished details, custom-made lace, and corsets concealed in unexpected places. As Holstein herself explained, this time she began constructing the clothes from the inside out, with the silhouettes only emerging later.

Still, we should not forget that Khaite is one of New York’s leading brands, having redefined the way we view the celebrated concept of quiet luxury. The label’s commercial success also depends on pieces destined to sell, and this season, those pieces were unmistakably the leather jackets, styles characteristic of the brand and an entirely logical move. It is clear that a leather jacket is an almost indispensable piece for spring and autumn, one that goes with absolutely everything. Whether you are styling a look for the office or a night out with friends, it will elevate any outfit.
This time, Holstein experimented with a variety of silhouettes that we are certain to see on countless fashion girls throughout the spring season. Look 43 featured a cropped leather jacket with pointed shoulders, styled with a leather midi skirt. This design is an excellent choice for anyone seeking something classic yet sculptural. Look 41 centred on a perfect cropped bomber jacket, paired with black capri trousers and patent-leather heeled sandals. One of the most striking and particularly viral designs was a fitted leather jacket with shoulder pads, which completed look 26. Styled with cat-eye sunglasses and a midi skirt, the jacket emerged as one of the collection’s standout pieces.
For her vision of Spring 2027, Catherine Holstein presented numerous leather jackets we want, making it clear that Khaite will be the key destination for anyone shopping for the perfect leather jacket next season.
