Hermès officially announces its couture ambitions. Discussed for several years, this historic launch is finally taking shape, with the announcement, on the last day of couture, of an upcoming first fashion show.
Hermès, the epitome of luxury, lacked an exceptional platform for expression. In a brief statement shared with WWD on July 9, the last day of the relevant fashion week, the house officially announced its entry into the highly exclusive world of haute couture . Its debut will take place in January 2027, during the next edition of Haute Couture Week , dedicated to the following spring/summer collection.

Naturally, Nadège Vanhée, in charge of the women’s collections, will oversee this new category. Behind her, an entire studio has been assembled to implement the bespoke production processes required by the discipline, but above all, to develop a distinctive style and techniques in keeping with the identity of the 190-year-old house. “What interests us in haute couture is the craftsmanship. We already have a very, very high level, incredible leather quality, and we thought: why not?” declared Axel Dumas during the presentation of the February 2025 annual results.

New era
This new chapter began discreetly for one of the biggest names in French luxury. In the fall of 2024, in an interview with the Financial Times, CEO Axel Dumas hinted that Hermès “did not rule out” launching into haute couture. Five months later, the project was confirmed at a press conference, without further details. Next January, Hermès is also set to unveil the new face of its menswear, now orchestrated by Grace Wales Bonner.
