Let’s take a look at three films that are already generating excitement.
“Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma” by Jane Schoenbrun
The ultimate slasher. Winner of the Queer Palm at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival , where it opened the Un Certain Regard section, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Jane Schoenbrun’s third feature film, has cinephiles and horror fans salivating. Starring the fabulous Gillian Anderson, this queer and satirical horror meta-film presents itself as a fusion of Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Friday the 13th. It follows the feverish trajectory of a young horror filmmaker, played by Hannah Einbinder (a Primetime Emmy Award winner for her role in the multi-award-winning comedy series Hacks), who is handed the Camp Miasma franchise , a struggling slasher film industry. But when the director meets her ideal final girl (Gillian Anderson), a reclusive and mysterious star, a bloody world of desire, fear, and madness opens up to them.

“Werwulf” by Robert Eggers
The devil and damnation. After casting Lily-Rose Depp as Nosferatu, the malevolent vampire who spreads terror (and plague) from a sinister Transylvania, Robert Eggers reunites with his actress in a new horror story. He turns his dark, auteur-driven cinema towards another myth born of darkness: the werewolf. On his grainy, black-and-white film, the monster is not a mere urban legend but a true curse. It’s a curse that a condemned farmer seeking redemption, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and a devoted hunter, portrayed by Willem Dafoe, attempt to break. Set in a medieval England of the year 1300, where every detail, starting with the actors’ accents, is perfect, Robert Eggers’ latest film promises a hypnotic experience.

“Rosebush Pruning” by Karim Aïnouz
Bad luck. For his next psychological film, Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz presented a biting remake of Marco Bellocchio’s Italian classic, Fists in the Pocket, at the last Berlinale. He offers Rosebush Pruning, a tragicomedy starring Elle Fanning, Pamela Anderson, Riley Keough, and Callum Turner in an absurd portrayal of an ultra-wealthy family isolated in a gilded villa. They live in Spain without speaking a word of it, are heirs to a considerable fortune but lack emotional intelligence, and yet still crave a form of recognition, which they seek as much in the eyes of their family as in the labels on their designer clothes. But when the accumulated lies are exposed, bonds unravel and blood begins to flow…
