Mert Alas and Seventy One Gin

A dinner in honor of Antoine Arnauld Seventy-one is the number of nights it takes for the gin to absorb the aromas of the wood from the barrels in which it rests.

Seventy One, or rather, Seventy One, is also the name of the high-end spirit created by photographer Mert Alas, famous for his shots with the duo Mert & Marcus. It took him five years to perfect his eau de nuit, inspired by the decadent novel À Rebours by Joris-Karl Huysmans and characterized by the citrus notes of lemon peel, the scent of jasmine, and the freshness of juniper. But the true protagonist of the bouquet is the queen of the night: “a flower that blooms at sunset and dies at dawn. A whole year of waiting to live only a few hours,” says Alas. Making the spirit even more exclusive is the bottle, which recalls perfumers’ flasks and Art Deco design. Last night, this liqueur was the life and soul of the party held at the Prunier restaurant in Paris in honor of entrepreneur Antoine Arnault, recently named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. For the occasion, Alas gathered Kendall Jenner, Isabelle Adjani, Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, Natalia Vodianova, Eva Herzigova, Mariacarla Boscono, and a select group of friends to toast with Seventy One Gin. The brand founded by the photographer also featured at New York and London Fashion Weeks, before closing out Fashion Month in style in the French capital.
