A vehicle caught fire and exploded in Manhattan’s financial district, near the Charging Bull statue in New York City. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon (local time), and no injuries were reported.
According to local media reports , police and New York Fire Department personnel responded to the intersection of Broadway and Stone Street after receiving several calls about a car on fire.
A thick column of black smoke rose over the area, causing alarm among pedestrians and tourists.
Images shared by users on the social network X show the vehicle, allegedly linked to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), as it is slowly consumed by fire.

The explosion caused running and panic among those who were in the vicinity.
Emergency crews brought the fire under control before 7 p.m. After extinguishing the flames, the vehicle was completely burned out. The removal of the damaged remains then began.
Authorities reported no injuries or fatalities and stated that, so far, there is no indication that the fire was intentionally set. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The most recent incident dates back to November. Less than 24 hours after the Big Apple made headlines for the mayoral elections—in which leftist leader Zohran Mamdani emerged victorious — a powerful car explosion was reported in the Bronx , in the northern part of the city.
Initial reports indicated that five people were injured in the accident. According to ABC 7, firefighters received a call about a vehicle fire around 7 p.m. (local time) on 955 Westchester Ave., between Intervale Avenue and Kelly Street.
Once on scene, they brought the flames under control and assisted the victims, who were rushed to Jacobi Hospital with burn diagnoses. The moment of the explosion was captured on video.
Authorities are investigating what caused the vehicle fire and subsequent explosion . To date, it is unknown whether it was an attack or the result of a mechanical failure.
New York was experiencing a climate of high political tension during those months, after Democrat Mamdani defeated the Republican candidates in the district election and won the mayoralty, amid tensions with the government of President Donald Trump , who labeled him a communist.
