Five people were struck by gunfire after a dispute on a city bus spilled onto a sidewalk in D.C., according to police. All injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Police said two juveniles and three adults were struck. Carroll said investigators do not believe everyone who was shot was involved in the original fight and that some appeared to be unintended bystanders.
Authorities said one suspect fired the weapon and fled the area. Police are searching for the suspect and are asking anyone who was on the bus or at the bus stop to contact the department’s real-time crime center with information.
Carroll said there was no surveillance video from the bus, leading investigators to seek footage from other sources in the area. He said police are still determining whether the people involved knew each other or whether the dispute began spontaneously during the bus ride.
