Mercedes-Benz Group AG introduced on Tuesday a new all-electric luxury limousine model called “Vision V.”
The German automaker announced a new era for Mercedes-Benz Vans with “the modular, flexible and scalable Van Electric Architecture,” starting in 2026. Taking the private aspect of vans and bringing it to the luxury segment, the future model portfolio will include practical family vehicles and spacious luxurious limousines, each in line with different customer requirements.
“The Vision V is the beginning of a new era for Mercedes‑Benz Vans. It demonstrates, in the truest sense of the word, how we bring luxury to a spacious cabin and define a new segment. With that, we set standards in design, comfort, and an immersive user experience – while meeting the highest demands of our customers,” the Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Thomas Klein, stated.

The vans will have lounge chairs that can fold down into a bed and huge screens that can turn the interior into a private cinema or karaoke bar. “Today we want to give you a good look at our vision of a private lounge on wheels,” CEO Ola Källenius told an event ahead of the Shanghai auto show.
“We are convinced there is enormous potential in China and around the world for a new segment like this,” he said, adding that the concept and the production model will be very similar.
Like many other foreign automakers, Mercedes-Benz’s (MBGn.DE), opens new tab sales have dropped in China, hit hard by stiff competition from local rivals and as a sputtering economy saps consumer confidence.
Its China car sales fell 7% last year and 10% in the first quarter while van sales tumbled 20% last year and plummeted 39% in the first quarter.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision V may look like a flight of fancy, but this luxurious van concept will become real within the next couple of years riding on a new VAN.EA platform with an electric powertrain.
The Vision V features short overhangs, with the wheels pushed out to the corners of the vehicle to create a planted and assertive stance.
Those wheels measure 24 inches in diameter and the bold five-spoke chrome design is accented by illuminated strips.
At the rear, a single lighting element wraps around a gigantic pane of glass, comprising both the taillight and brake lights.
Up front, Mercedes reimagined its iconic grille with chrome and illuminated trim, since the grille doesn’t need to be open for cooling with an electric powertrain.
