Montenegro declared three days of mourning on Thursday following a mass shooting on New Year’s Day that left 12 people, including two children, dead.
The shooting began in a restaurant fight in the village of Bajice, near the southern city of Cetinje. After opening fire in the restaurant, the man shot people, including his own family members, in several other places before killing himself.
In addition to the dead, four people were seriously injured in the shooting. However, according to police, their lives were no longer in danger on Thursday.
Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic called the mass shooting a “horrific tragedy.” The prime minister said the incident would prompt a review of the country’s gun laws, among other things.
