The “X” Platform Announces That It Officially Allows Publishing Pornographic Content

The “X” social media platform announced that it officially allows publishing any sexual or pornographic content on its platform, as similar content had already been spreading for years. “We believe that users should be able to create, post, and view sexual content as long as that content is produced and distributed consensually,” the platform said on its “Adult Content” page in its updated guidelines .

The platform confirmed that “similar content will not appear to children or adult users who do not wish to browse it,” and since its founding, the network has not officially prohibited the publication of pornographic videos and images, or those of a sexual nature, but it has not officially allowed them either.

In 2019, it addressed the issue by announcing a ban on content that involves “violent sexual behavior,” effective from the beginning of January 2020.

However, the social network confirmed that it prohibits content that promotes “sexual exploitation and forms of assault on minors,” and Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat have imposed strict rules on sexually provocative or pornographic content.
