It’s been six months since the first episode of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story aired, reigniting the public’s interest in all things John F. Kennedy Jr., Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and the minimalist, elevated ’90s styles embraced by the two. But the influence of the series hasn’t left the streets of New York City—or lead actor Sarah Pidgeon’s own wardrobe—quite yet.

Pidgeon stepped back into character, wearing a slinky minidress and some block-heel ballerinas that looked straight out of the late icon’s wardrobe. The dress in question, courtesy of Khaite, was draped from soft taupe-gray wool, with a high cowl neckline and angular wrapped back. The emphasis on tailoring, minimalism, and proportion felt very CBK, while the sculptural touch added something distinctly modern. Plus, with its cozy fabric and sleeveless silhouette, the transitional piece looked ahead to the end of summer and the start of autumn dressing.

Pidgeon’s shoes, too, struck the match between her on-screen wardrobe and today’s footwear favorites. Also Khaite, her black slip-ons were crafted from buttery-soft leather with a smooth shine and stretchy fit. The low, stacked heel added a bit of height to the style, while the wide, laceless opening nodded to the preppy loafer silhouette.

Bringing the look together, the actor carried her Balenciaga Rodeo bag—a roomy, black leather piece with a long top handle and gold-toned side snaps. Pidgeon, who recently starred in the house’s “A New York Minute” campaign, carried the bag on her shoulder with the front-flap closure left open.
