What are Blackpink’s Members Up To In 2024?

Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé – whose collective brand endorsements include Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Prada – did not renew their individual YG Entertainment contracts last month. So what are the four members of Blackpink up to individually in 2024? Photo: @blackpinkofficial/Instagram
Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé did not renew their individual YG Entertainment contracts – so what does this mean for the bandmates’ solo activities?

  • Jennie Kim, who starred in HBO’s The Idol with Lily-Rose Depp, is the face of Chanel’s Coco Crush, while Lalisa Manobal – who represents Prada, Celine and Bulgari – looks set to join The Walking Dead
  • Jisoo Kim will appear in the K-drama Influenza and film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, while Rosé Park has a Tiffany & Co. capsule collection plus Saint Laurent and Rimowa endorsements

Blackpink is undoubtedly K-pop’s biggest girl band, and also one of the music industry’s most lucrative. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé each have an estimated net worth of US$20 million.

Last month, all four band members renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment for Blackpink group activities, but – in a landmark move – the four did not renew their individual contracts for their solo activities. Instead, they will each be branching out on their own terms in 2024 – opening themselves up to new and hopefully lucrative business opportunities.

That doesn’t mean the band is deprioritising its group activities, however. In a press statement regarding the renewed contract, YG stated that Blackpink is set for a new album and a world tour, adding, “Blackpink will continue to do its best to shine even brighter in the global music market as an artist representing not only our company but also K-pop. And we send our unwavering support and faith to [fans].”

The group’s lucrative Born Pink World Tour, which ran from October 2022 to September 2023, secured the top spot on Billboard Boxscore’s list of the Top 10 Highest Grossing K-pop Tours of 2023. At US$148.3 million, Born Pink also holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing world tour ever by a female group – a record previously held by the Spice Girls.

Lalisa Manobal, 26

As an ambassador for luxury brands including Bulgari, Celine, Mac and Prada, Thai “It” girl Lisa is already a busy woman. But, like her bandmate Jennie, Lisa is rumoured to be dipping her toes into the acting pool this year.

Media outlets worldwide have widely speculated that Lisa will be joining the cast of The Walking Dead for its next season. Lisa was seen travelling between Seoul and Paris, where the series was filming, and in November she was spotted at a Champions League football match in the company of Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. Both Reedus and the TV show’s official Instagram account started following the singer soon after, giving fans possible hints of what’s to come.

Whatever direction Lisa decides to take, she’ll probably make an impact. Last month, the rapper was voted the most influential figure among politicians and celebrities in Thailand, in a survey of more than 7,000 people conducted by Bangkok’s Suan Dusit University.

It’s currently unknown which agency Lisa will turn to for her solo career activities, with contract details still under wraps.

Jennie Kim, 28

It’s set to be another exciting and busy year for Jennie, whose endorsements include appearing as the face of Chanel’s Coco Crush campaign.

In late December 2023, Jennie confirmed she had launched a new label Odd Atelier (OA), which will manage all her solo projects. She said in a statement: “This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, Blackpink.”

Last year, Jennie made her Hollywood debut in HBO’s The Idol with Lily-Rose Depp, which was widely panned by critics and cancelled after one season. But that hasn’t scared her away from television. Jennie is set to join the main star cast of TVN’s upcoming variety show Apartment 404, which will also feature actor and comedian Yoo Jae-suk. The shows drops on February 23.

Rosé Park, 26

Of all the members of Blackpink, New Zealand-born Rosé has been the most low-key in recent months, with not much known about her plans for 2024.

Following the success of solo hit “On the Ground” in 2021, it’s also unknown who will manage Rosé’s future solo ventures.

As the ambassador for a variety of brands – from Sulwhasoo skincare and Rimowa luggage to Saint Laurent fashion and Tiffany & Co. jewels – Rosé is clearly making a killing. In September, Tiffany launched a capsule collection inspired by the artist. Titled the Tiffany Lock Rosé Edition, the collection’s pieces are made with 18k rose gold and rare pink sapphires.

Jisoo Kim, 29

The unnie, or big sister, of the band, Dior and Cartier ambassador Jisoo has been planning her upcoming projects wisely, with 2024 set to be a lucrative year for the Korean star.

The singer is reportedly turning to her brother Kim Jung-hun and his agency Blisoo for her future solo representation. At the start of the year, the company was running job ads alongside a photo of Jisoo herself, accompanied by the intriguing promise: “We offer a unique experience of working with an artist in a start-up company.”

The budding actress – who made her acting debut with the K-drama Snowdrop – is returning to the small screen in Coupang Play’s zombie romance K-drama Influenza, set to premiere this year. She’ll also be making her big-screen debut in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint – a film based on the popular Korean web novel.
