Lyon: The United Arab Emirates has marked another major milestone in international policing cooperation with its election as Chair of the INTERPOL Committee on Governance, one of the organization’s key advisory bodies. The appointment reflects the UAE’s growing international stature, its dedication to collaborative global security efforts, and its strategic role in fostering effective multilateral partnerships.

The Committee on Governance, officially established during the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly in Glasgow in late 2024, plays a vital role in strengthening INTERPOL’s governance framework. It evolved from the former Working Group on Governance and is now tasked with reviewing and advising on the INTERPOL Statute, General Regulations, and other foundational documents of the organization.

Comprised of high-level experts in governance and international law from various member states, the committee ensures transparent and inclusive oversight across INTERPOL’s operations. As Chair, the UAE will lead critical discussions, facilitate policy recommendations, and report directly to the General Assembly and Executive Committee.

The UAE’s leadership on the committee will be key in shaping INTERPOL’s strategic direction, promoting accountability, and ensuring that the organization’s governance aligns with its evolving global mission. This two-year term further underscores the UAE’s long-standing commitment to international cooperation, rule of law, and global security advancement.
