Although we still don’t know the name of the actor who will take over the role of agent 007 in the upcoming film directed by Denis Villeneuve (names like Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are being speculated), the Bond brand is definitely not sleeping.
The legendary agent 007 will soon return. And this time in the form of the video game 007 First Light, developed by IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios. For this occasion, Lana Del Rey has joined forces with composer David Arnold, the author of the music for several Bond films, from One World Is Not Enough (1999) to Quantum of Solace (2008). Together, they present the song
First Light, which perfectly captures the atmosphere of the Bond universe. It begins with a sensual introduction, gradually develops into dramatic strings and brass instruments, and at the end of the chorus there is also the iconic James Bond motif. The song was released surprisingly, but the release is all the more symbolic, as the singer already wrote a song for a Bond film in 2015, which the filmmakers ultimately rejected in favor of Sam Smith’s Oscar-winning hit Writing’s On The Wall.
A video game comes before the next movie
007 First Light is currently scheduled for release on May 27th and will offer a look at the early days of James Bond – specifically at the age of 26, at the very beginning of his spy career. It will be the first James Bond licensed video game since 2012’s 007 Legends. But Lana Del Rey is far from the only musical star attached to the project.
Lenny Kravitz will lend his voice to the main villain Bawm, while Irish actor Patrick Gibson, known for The OA and Dexter: Origins , will play the young agent 007. The cast also includes Priyanga Burford as M, Lennie James as mentor John Greenway, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Gemma Chan as Dr. Selina Tan and Noémie Nakai as Mrs. Roth.”James Bond’s music has always been a fundamental part of his identity,” said David Arnold in an official statement. “The theme song must draw us into the world we are about to enter. It must arouse curiosity, excitement and attraction. This song continues the long tradition of Bond songs that have defined the entire genre. It was a great pleasure to work with Lana Del Rey, she brought a unique atmosphere and her own unique style to the song.”

Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. The singer originally planned to return with a new project in 2025, the country-inspired Lasso, but the album’s current form remains unclear. Her final single before the release of First Light , “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” signaled an unexpected shift in her musical direction. The song, produced by Jack Antonoff and Drew Erickson, was co-written by her husband Jeremy Dufren, among others. The singer’s sister Chuck Grant and brother-in-law Jason Pickens also contributed to the song. The song reflects a new chapter in her life. More intimate, domestic, rooted in personal relationships. Also interesting is the involvement of composer Johnny Mercer, the author of the classic 1944 song Laura, which Lana Del Rey samples in her song. Despite the expected country sound, the song is closer to dark jazz evoking the atmosphere of 1940s film noir. Whether Lana Del Rey will return with a new album in 2026 remains a question. But what is certain is that her voice is now finally heard in the world of James Bond – exactly as fans have wished for for many years.
