Former Spanish goalkeeper Roberto Jiménez was announced this Friday by LaLiga as the new Head of the Player’s Office, a strategic area aimed at strengthening the relationship with the competition’s footballers and consolidating communication with their representatives and with the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE), among other organizations, according to a statement.

LALIGA has announced the appointment of Roberto Jiménez as Head of the Player Office , a strategic area focused on strengthening the relationship with the competition’s footballers and consolidating communication with their representatives and the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE), among other organizations.

In this role, Roberto becomes an essential link between LALIGA and its players, working to ensure a closer, more transparent, and more effective relationship with all the professionals involved in the competition. His work will include the direct management of the institutional relationship with AFE (the Spanish Footballers’ Association) and other representative bodies, as well as providing ongoing support to LALIGA players to understand and address their interests, concerns, and needs firsthand. He will also be responsible for promoting initiatives related to the well-being, holistic development, and support of athletes, and for coordinating LALIGA’s overall strategy regarding the player community.

Roberto Jiménez boasts a solid track record in professional football, both in Spain and internationally. For over a decade, he played for top-level clubs, including Real Zaragoza, Atlético de Madrid, Benfica, West Ham United, RCD Espanyol, Málaga CF, and Deportivo Alavés, among others. He also represented Spain at the Under-21 level, participating in various international competitions and standing out for his leadership in the dressing room, his professional maturity, and his broad understanding of the competitive landscape.

His experience in different leagues and football cultures has given him a deep understanding of the real needs of players, both on and off the pitch. This background makes Roberto a particularly valuable asset for this new phase, focused on strengthening the bond between LALIGA and those who bring the competition to life.

With his appointment, LALIGA takes another step in its commitment to placing the player at the heart of its structure, fostering a direct, professional relationship focused on improving their experience in the competition. Roberto Jiménez will work across all areas of the organization to ensure that the player’s voice is actively and systematically present in decision-making and the institution’s strategic development.
