Cate Blanchett was among the first big stars to arrive on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival, at the opening of the event. Blanchett is kicking off the 81st Venice International Film Festival with a bang. The actor was among the first major movie stars to arrive on the red carpet on the Italian island of Lido di Venezia this evening, the opening night of the event.

The Tár star looked incredible in a metallic Neubauer Artists Golden Armani Privé gown when she showed up for the highly anticipated world premiere of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice—where she joined cast members including Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci, and Catherine O’Hara.

The actress captivated in the style of old Hollywood divas, in a golden dress with a dramatic hourglass silhouette, which was decorated with horizontal rows of shiny white crystals. She rounded off the glamorous look with a Louis Vuitton [LV] necklace of white pearls and diamonds, which she wore off her shoulders and across her cleavage – a sophisticated and unexpected choice of accessory, with the potential to start a whole new jewelery trend.

Blanchett slipped into a pair of shiny silver pumps to complement her metallic dress, and capped off the electric look with small star-shaped silver earrings. She wore her blonde hair in a wavy bob, and kept her glam light in minimal, rosy makeup.

Known for her sustainable approach to fashion (which often includes re-wearing looks she has debuted at high-profile events in the past), the stylish actor has become a staple on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. This year, she returns as the star of Alfonso Cuarón’s new Apple TV+ limited series, Disclaimer.
