Carla! Linda! Monica! Dakota!? The 50-Plus Crowd’s Beauty Looks Won The Paris Frow

A contingent of highly glamorous women in their fifties and beyond descended on the Saint Laurent autumn/winter 2024 show in Paris, sporting black tailoring, oversized sunglasses, and really, really good hair.

The likes of Linda Evangelista, Carla Bruni and Monica Bellucci all sat on the front row (or “frow”) to take in the show, staged in its usual location in front of the Eiffel Tower.

The City of Lights is the perfect location to show off a statement haircut–and these guests certainly did that. Evangelista drew upon her ’90s roots with a side-parted pixie crop–a hairstyle that looks just as good now as it did back then. Many hairstylists still reference her iconic bold red pixie when creating new-gen styles. Cut to finish an inch or so below her ears, Evangelista wore her surprisingly versatile style with a slightly slick finish.

Then there was Monica Bellucci, who brought all the rock’n’roll spirit one might hope for from a YSL show, with bangs and an excellent pair of shades. Her mid-length cut–which has become something of a signature for the 59 year-old–featured an eye-grazing fringe, slightly wispy in the centre, and gentle, undone waves through mid-lengths and ends. Bellucci may be Italian, but her cut and color was giving Parisian chic.

Carla Bruni, meanwhile, showed off sweeping side bangs in her mid-length chestnut hair, which fell over her movie star shades. Now in her mid-fifties, Bruni’s hair also fell into the “effortlessly undone” camp, styled with just a few tousled waves to frame her face.

Other guests of note included Kate Moss, 50, whose trademark blonde locks were slicked back into a knot, and Eva Herzigová, also 50, who channelled the spirit of the ’80s with her disco ringlets. Charlotte Rampling, 78, paired her salt-and-pepper crop with an androgynous suit, while Charlotte Gainsbourg, 52, offered a lesson in how to do the shag cut with straight hair.
