When the Grammy nominations are revealed later this year, there’s a very good chance that Ariana Grande will hear her name more than once. The singer scored a new No. 1 album and several chart-topping singles in this eligibility period, and it’s entirely possible that all of her hits will become nominees.
If—or maybe when—she nabs her sixth Best Pop Vocal Album nomination, Grande will tie the current record for the most times being up for the honor. That bit of history is currently owned by Kelly Clarkson. The singer and TV host doesn’t have a collection out yet, so it seems unlikely she’ll be in the running this time around.
Grande has won Best Pop Vocal Album just once before. She earned the trophy for her Sweetener project half a decade ago. It marked her first time coming out on top, and she’ll surely be looking to double that sum at the upcoming ceremony.
The superstar may not be the only musician to match Clarkson this year. Taylor Swift has also been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album five times throughout her career. Her latest effort The Tortured Poets Department is another powerful contender, and it will almost certainly be included in the running alongside Grande.
