The Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie with minute repeater, the most complicated watch ever made by Bvlgari, features four hammers striking the melody. The melody for the watch was composed by Italian-Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti. The Lausanne native currently leads the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Dutch National Opera. In grand chime mode, the BVV 800 caliber of the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon automatically strikes the hours and quarters as they elapse, and also repeats the hourly chime. It can also repeat the hours, quarters and minutes on request.
The model with an innovative skeletonized metal dial reinterprets the melody of the gongs by adding the “tritone,” a characteristic interval in classical music. “ The tritone, often called the ‘devil’s interval,’ spans six semitones or three whole tones. It divides the octave in half and creates dissonance and tension ,” explains Viotti.
In the Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon, the melody is born from two complex mechanisms, visible on the dial as a double structure: a tourbillon and a minute repeater with three hammers that strike the time as desired. The watch counts the hours, quarters and minutes, striking them on three notes thanks to a modified carillon caliber BVL428.
Finally, the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon combines the Octo Finissimo design with a minute repeater caliber that chimes the hours, quarters and minutes on demand.
The 40 mm case houses the ultra-thin BVL362 manufacture caliber with manual winding.
Another musical novelty with a completely different character is the Bvlgari Aluminum GMT x Fender Limited Edition model, the fruit of collaboration between Bvlgari and the Fender Custom Shop. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the legendary electric guitar, two cults have united in one watch – the Bvlgari Aluminum watch and the Stratocaster guitar, created by Fender in 1954. 1,200 pieces of the limited edition Bvlgari Aluminum GMT x Fender repeat the original Stratocaster color with a sunburst and cream tint.
The collaboration also includes 140 exclusive anniversary watch sets, as well as 70 custom guitars handcrafted by the Fender Custom Shop.
The new collection also includes jewellery masterpieces. Among the new items is the Serpenti Pallini High Jewellery snake, equipped with the Piccolissimo calibre, one of the smallest mechanisms in the world, and currently the smallest round mechanical calibre. Its scales are made up of small gold beads or classic-cut diamonds, each individually set on a gold mesh, using a technique based on the en tremblant method, invented in Paris in the 18th century.
“This irresistible and joyful new interpretation of the Serpenti Pallini, which means ‘little round beads’ in Italian, pays tribute to the heritage of Bvlgari. I was inspired by the first Pallini, created in 1955, with a yellow gold and diamond bracelet that wrapped around the wrist five times ,” explains Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani.
Serpenti Pallini are available with diamonds in white gold, white or pink gold, and white or yellow gold.
