This is not the first time the Duchess has lent her voice, support, and even her image to charitable projects; however, she has gone further this time by personally collaborating on the design of this piece intended to support the initiatives of “Moms Offering More” and the “Alliance for Children’s Rights” of Los Angeles in favor of mothers and families in difficulty.
Meghan Markle put her heart and soul, as well as her own distinctive style, into creating a limited edition sweatshirt to support the projects of “Moms Offering More” and the “Alliance for Children’s Rights” of Los Angeles, which help mothers and families in need in Canada and the United States.
This is certainly not the first time the Duchess has lent her voice, support and image to charitable causes; but this time, Meghan went further by personally collaborating on the design of this garment, born from the partnership between “Moms Offering More” (MOM) and Archewell Philanthropies, the charity she runs alongside Prince Harry.
As Kasondra Herrendorf Cohen , founder of Moms Offering More, told George V Magazine, Meghan was actively involved in the design of this very special sweatshirt, letting her very personal fashion sense shine through. And how did she do it? By opting for consistently neutral tones. “Our goal from the very beginning was to create a simple, easy-to-wear, and meaningful piece—something people would actually want to wear every day. Meghan was involved from the start and helped us choose these beautiful neutral colors that reflect her aesthetic,” Herrendorf Cohen told the magazine.
The sweatshirt, which the Duchess is wearing in a photo posted on social media, comes in a sophisticated cream shade—a color undoubtedly among Meghan’s favorites, who was once nicknamed “Lady Vanilla” because of her frequent preference for light tones. “I appreciated her creativity throughout the design process as well as her constant focus on the project’s purpose: supporting mothers, families, and the organizations that do this work,” added Herrendorf Cohen.
The item went on sale for $100 (nearly €90) on October 11, International Day of the Girl ; needless to say, it sold out within hours, experiencing an unexpected (or perhaps not so unexpected) sell-out. The Meghan effect? We wouldn’t be surprised. However, a solution has already been found to address this rapid depletion. The “MOM x Meghan” sweatshirt can now be ordered from the website, with a delivery time of approximately four weeks. As the website states, 100% of the profits will be donated to support mothers and families: 50% to MOM and 50% to the Alliance of Moms.
Featuring a crew neck and a relaxed fit, this sweatshirt is enhanced with chocolate-colored embroidery where the inscription “It’s the Little Things” appears just above the wrist and on the back. This phrase wasn’t chosen at random; as the founder of MOM explains, it’s linked to a significant and moving episode in her life.
In May 2014, her father, Hershel Herrendorf, came to visit her in Vancouver. They were walking in Stanley Park. As they watched a man feeding the ducks, her father turned to her and said, “It’s the little things in life that make people happy. You never really know someone’s story.” These words took on a heartbreaking resonance when he passed away suddenly the next day. Today, more than ten years later, that moment and that message remain etched in the founder’s mind, more convinced than ever that life’s smallest gestures carry the greatest meaning. “As a mother, it’s the little things that matter,” she added, explaining that it was precisely the birth of her children—along with some complex personal challenges she faced as a mother—that inspired her to create this organization.
An organization with which Meghan Markle feels perfectly aligned. “As parents, we share a common goal,” Meghan told George V Magazine, “a safe and loving future for our children. That’s why Archewell Philanthropies has partnered with Moms Offering More for this major campaign, in support of the Alliance of Moms. We all know that ‘little things’ lead to big results, especially when it comes to the future of our children, and we are proud to collaborate on this initiative on International Day of the Girl.”
