This Sunday, September 20th, two weeks after the last-minute cancellation of the original date, Alizée was (finally) able to sing in Ajaccio, her hometown. A particularly moving moment for the singer… who shared the stage with her six-year-old daughter, who accompanied her on the drums.
And what were you doing at six years old? Because Maggy is already performing concerts in front of thousands of people in Ajaccio. This Sunday, during her visit to Ajaccio, Alizée had a rather… disconcerting surprise. Just before launching into ” Moi… Lolita ,” the Mylène Farmer hit , the singer saw her husband, Grégoire Lyonnet, invite their six-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Maggy, to sit behind the drums.
Like in a dream
Incredulous at the sight, Alizée finally sang “Moi Lolita” with her daughter on stage: “Double pressure, Ajaccio and Maggy!” she exclaimed before starting the song. It was a moment as special as it was precious for the Ajaccio native, as she had always dreamed of performing with one of her children and it showed.
Throughout the song, Alizée (whose fans include the richest man on the planet) kept turning towards her little girl, as if to check that it wasn’t a dream. When the song ended, the proud mother was overcome with emotion: “I don’t like surprises because I cry all the time,” she confessed, admitting she had held back tears. Yet, this evening almost didn’t happen. The event, scheduled for September 5th at the Théâtre L’Empire, was meant to launch the ” 25 Years Already!” tour , celebrating Alizée’s quarter-century career.
A program complicated by technical problems
But the installation of a lighting rig somewhat complicated the singer’s plans: “Machines damaged the ceiling of the venue,” the artist explained on social media. Her manager had emphasized safety: “The comfort and safety of the audience, artists, and crew remain our top priority, and no risks are being taken.” Alizée, for her part, wanted everything to be perfect to honor her loved ones, the people of Ajaccio, the Corsicans, and the fans who have followed her since the beginning. She apologized on social media, explaining: “I’m truly sorry, I worked so hard for this. I was more stressed about singing there than at the Olympia. I didn’t make this decision. That’s just how it is, that’s life.“ The date was ultimately postponed to September 20th.
Born in Ajaccio and discovered in 2000 on the talent show “Graines de star,” the singer opted for a very “90s-2000s” setlist . The show blended unabashed nostalgia with nods to her family life: she performed “L’e-mail a des ailes” (Email Has Wings) while thinking of her nephew Léon, before closing the show with “Moi… Lolita .” A performance she’ll never forget, that’s for sure!
