“Let’s break the taboo surrounding menopause!” says “Ted Lasso” star Hannah Waddingham, who now speaks openly about her menopausal journey. She’ll be making her mark as a football queen in August.
Brain fog and emotional roller coasters
The 51-year-old, known for top series like “Game of Thrones,” “Sex Education,” and “Ted Lasso,” now wants to break precisely this taboo. “For my brain, it doesn’t make sense to be ashamed of it,” says Waddingham in the extensive interview, which is accompanied by a stunning photo shoot in which the actress showcases her toned physique. However, she now speaks candidly about how she didn’t feel nearly as comfortable in her own skin last year, suffering from severe concentration problems, emotional roller coasters, and the pressure to always be able to function despite everything.

“I want to encourage other women!”
What’s particularly important to her is the message that menopause is a natural part of life, just like aging itself – which is why it’s such an important social issue. After going through some tough times, Waddingham now focuses on a healthy relationship with her body. “I felt like I was hardly productive anymore. My mood was getting worse, even though I’m usually an optimistic person,” she reveals about the period before she had her hormones checked and started hormone replacement therapy. Waddingham also relies on exercise, sufficient sleep, and mental breaks to feel balanced again. Above all, she wants to encourage other women to talk openly about their symptoms instead of silently enduring them.

In August she returns as Rebecca in “Ted Lasso” – with an all-female team
But we’ll also be hearing a lot more from this powerhouse professionally this year, especially since she’s found love again after eight years of being single. In July, the Netflix series “Ride or Die” premieres, in which Waddingham plays Judith, a contract killer leading a double life. Fans of the legendary Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” are already looking forward to August. She even won an Emmy Award for her portrayal of the quick-witted soccer club owner Rebecca Welton. And: The new season revolves around a women’s soccer team, something Hannah Waddingham is particularly excited about.
“Be the master of your own destiny”
The mother of a 12-year-old daughter certainly proves her “Rebecca” power with her appearance in “Women’s Health,” where she gives women the important advice: “Take the reins into your own hands. Be the master of your own destiny.” Whether in menopause or at any other time in life.
