Nicole Kidman shocked and surprised us all when she walked the red carpet with a pixie cut. She didn’t actually cut off all her hair for the first Monday in May, but it was still major. For the 2026 Met Gala, the Oscar winner—who is serving as a co-host alongside Venus Williams and Beyoncé—went in the complete opposite direction with inches upon inches of long, waist-length hair. Nicole, Nicole, let down your hair! Well, wait… she already did, and we’re obsessed.
Kidman worked with hairstylist Adir Abergel on her flowing strawberry-blonde lengths, which she wore alongside a bright red sequined gown with feather trim from Chanel. (She’s an ambassador for the French fashion house.) The star’s hair was styled simply with just the teeniest hint of a bend. Her long, cheekbone-length curtain bangs were parted to either side.
But let’s talk about that butt-grazing length, which would absolutely make Rapunzel jealous! Kidman’s hair flowed past her shoulders and all the way down past her hips, adding even more drama to the rich, sparkly red dress. (You know who would also love that dress? Satine from Moulin Rouge!)
Given the impactful nature of her extra-, extra-long hair and the showgirl-style dress, Kidman and her team kept the rest of her glam details soft and subtle, leaning into peach tones on her cheeks and lips. You never know what the Oscar winner is going to do on the red carpet; she’s a chameleon both on and off camera, and after last year’s pixie cut, we knew anything was possible. Kidman’s model daughter Sunday Rose Urban got to walk the carpet this year too, also with super-long hair.
“For Nicole and Sunday’s first Met Gala together, I wanted to create a meaningful connection for this special moment,” Abergel said. “Hair became a subtle yet beautiful unifying thread, tying their looks together through a shared expression of modern elegance.” He prepped Kidman’s hair with Virtue Damage Reverse Serum and a few pumps of Healing Oil to protect, then blew it dry with a paddle brush and Shark Beauty FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System to ensure Kidman’s bangs swept perfectly, adding shine and polish to the hair. Abergel then added 60-cm hair extensions by BHBD to for that long, luscious length, then finished with more Healing Oil. ”I warmed a few drops between my hands, gently tilted her head, and smoothed it through her long, golden locks for an added veil of luster and shine.”
