Delphine Boël can finally breathe a sigh of relief! For many years, the artist has been fighting in court to be recognized as the biological daughter of the former Belgian King Albert II (86). As early as 1997, she claimed to be the royal’s illegitimate child.
After a paternity test, the case took a turn in January of this year: Albert acknowledged the 52-year-old as his daughter – and now the court has ruled that
Delphine is officially a Princess of Belgium!

According to a report by Spiegel, the relevant Brussels court has now delivered a verdict – and it was in Delphine’s favor: The artist is “completely satisfied” with the judge’s decision, as her lawyer emphasized after the trial. However, this legal victory can “never replace a father’s love,” but can only provide “a sense of justice.”
Not only Delphine will benefit from the court’s final ruling – her two children, Joséphine and Oscar, will also face a name change: her 16-year-old daughter and her 12-year-old son will now also bear titles of nobility.
