Cecilia, an excellent violinist, finds solace in art until the arrival of new violin teacher Antonio Vivaldi suddenly upends her life.
Damiano Michelietto has directed operas at La Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He was recently the artistic director of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Italy. Primavera is his first film.
The film Primavera is one of the biggest Italian productions of the year and its creation was made by top professionals in every field. Particular attention was paid to the music, which was performed live during filming.
Early 18th century. The Ospedale della Pietà is the largest orphanage in Venice, and also the place where the most talented of the orphan girls living there are initiated into the study of music. Its orchestra is one of the most famous in the world.
Cecilia is 20 years old; she has spent almost her entire life at the Pietà and is an excellent violinist. Art opens her mind, but not the doors of the orphanage: this is the only place where she can play music, behind a railing, for the institution’s wealthy benefactors.
Until a spring breeze suddenly upsets her life and everything changes with the arrival of a new violin teacher. His name is Antonio Vivaldi.
