The face of Dior Addict talks her current beauty routine and the next Dune film.
Francis Kurkdjian, Dior’s perfume creation director, worked alongside Peter Philips, Dior Makeup’s creative and image director, to make perfumes directly inspired by the brand’s iconic and ever-viral Lip Glow Oils. “I composed the Rosy, Peachy, and Purple Glow fragrances with a gourmand dimension and a touch of French je-ne-sais,” says Kurkdjian. Each scent is sweet like candy, but still wearable.
Philips also created new Lip Glow finishes—one sparkly and one mirror-glaze—to add his own touch to the collection. Taylor-Joy’s favorite corresponds with the Purple Glow fragrance. “I am quite a Berry girl,” she says. “I have quite naturally pigmented lips, so adding a berry shade on top just amplifies something that’s already there.” Below, Taylor-Joy plays a game of smell association, talks about her hopes for 2026, and Dune: Part Three.
What role does fragrance play in your life?
Scent is one of my favorite senses. I find it a really helpful way into a character. It’s also nice that my past self can create a little time capsule for my future to enjoy. I find it to be a personal prayer of sorts.
Which of your characters do you think would wear the new Dior Addict scents?
I played a character [Allie] in a film called Marrowbone that was shot in Spain and such a good time. She would wear Peachy Glow.
What smell reminds you of Fashion Week?
Marlboros, champagne, and freshly cut roses.
What about Dune?
The smell of a library, and fresh dew, because we had a lot of extremely early mornings and night shoots.
What about chess?
Because of Beth’s relationship to it [in The Queen’s Gambit], vodka and something chic that you might find in your grandmother’s cabinet.
What about motherhood?
There’s a wonderful Icelandic brand called Fischersund that my best friend wears a lot. I just smelled milk accord for the first time. I think it would be powdery milk and honey.
Do you have any goals you’re currently working toward?
I am attempting to find some sort of routine within the chaos that is my life. It would be good to do the basic things that people say make them feel better: to have an exercise [or] supplement routine. But on a more emotional level, I’ve realized how important it is to admire the people I surround myself with. Do they have a way of looking at or operating in the world that I find inspiring? If I’m surrounded by people like that, and I’m doing something that I believe in, it’s the key to living a good life. I left school when I was 16, got my first job at 18, and made a point of doing things alone and being self-sufficient. I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful family. I’ve made a real effort to be more in community. It makes life so much better to be around people you love and trust.
Do you have a current beauty or wellness routine that you follow?
Electrolytes have made a huge difference in my life. I love them. I also was a terrible sleeper for most of my life. I suffered from really bad insomnia, and I made the effort to get it handled. And I love a bath. That’s probably my most high-maintenance thing. I need a bathtub if I’m working; it’s how I recharge. I have thin skin in terms of being around people—I’m pretty empathetic, and making the time to be with myself and regulate my nervous system has been a huge help.
Is there anything you can tell us about Dune: Part Three?
The beauty of working with someone like Denis [Villeneuve] is that when I see the finished product, it will blow my mind. To enjoy it as a fan and a creative is the biggest gift.
