Hollywood has always been fascinated by love stories, which is not surprising given that sex is a frequent and powerful narrative element in movies and series. Whether it’s used to show passion, build tension, or even as comic relief, intimacy is a powerful tool for plot development.

I don’t think this series needs much introduction. Premiering in 1998, Sex and the City revolutionized the way female friendships and sexuality were portrayed on screen. Sure, it has its faults and injustices when viewed through a modern lens, but it has also inspired generations of women to take control of their own pleasure.
Bridgerton
There is hardly a more erotic atmosphere than the Regency period. Think about it. Strict social codes meant that even small gestures, like a stolen glance or the touch of glove to glove, were suffused with desire and sexual tension. This is the ideal setting for Bridgerton, where the outward decorum of the English upper class meets the inner chaos. A real treat.
Outlander Series
Picture this: A post-World War II English war nurse travels back in time to the 18th century, where she meets a Scottish warrior. A very passionate sex ensued. Outlander set a new standard for feminist intimacy on screen, especially in earlier seasons, especially in the context of female sexuality and consent. The chemistry between actors Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe certainly adds to that.
Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire
Carlo and Margherita seem like a happy couple, but cracks begin to appear when doubt and temptation enter their lives. In this Italian drama series, both partners must struggle with their desires and the consequences of their actions. It’s a slow plot, but we appreciate the way the show presents infidelity as a nuanced obstacle that no couple is immune to.
Sex Education
The teenage years may not have been the sexiest part of our lives. In fact, it was mostly full of unpleasantness. But that’s exactly what makes Sex Education so charming and, in its own way, sexy. Each character has their own story through which they explore gender, sexuality, fantasies and relationships in a truly accepting and non-judgmental way.
Gossip Girl
Few shows have as many scandalous sex scenes as the original Gossip Girl , a series about the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite. Who could forget Nate and Serena’s secret relationship at the Shepherds’ wedding? Or Chuck and Blair’s first time in the back of his limo? This iconic, admittedly somewhat “template” series was memorable for many reasons.
Easy Series
One of the main reasons why Easy is so attractive is her realistic and unfiltered approach to sex and relationships. And, yes, it gets pretty chaotic at times. This star-studded anthology series set in Chicago features appearances from the likes of Aubrey Plaza, Orlando Bloom, Zazie Beetz, Dave Franco, and more. The series is funny, slightly dark and sexy in a way that is really easy to recognize.
Dark Desire
The first season of Dark Desire is one of the most watched non-English series on Netflix, and one viewer even cited this series as the key to his sexual awakening. This passionate Mexican drama focuses on Alma Solares, a married law professor, who embarks on a passionate affair with a younger man during a weekend out of town. If you enjoyed Babygirl , this is a series not to be missed. Although there are only two seasons, they are quite long, with 18 and 15 episodes respectively.
Obsession Series
Obsession is a mini-series based on the 1991 novel Damage, written by Josephine Hart. The series follows surgeon William Farrow, who begins an affair with his son’s fiancee, Anna. Bad guy! But what begins as a secret romance quickly turns into an all-out—you guessed it—obsession. William becomes infatuated with Anna, risking everything to win her, while Anna seems both attracted and repulsed by his intense passion.
Young Royals
Young Royals is a Swedish drama that follows Prince Wilhelm, a teenage member of the Swedish royal family, as he deals with the pressures of royalty, youthful love and identity. After the scandal, Wilhelm enrolls in an elite boarding school where he struggles to fit in. Everything changes when she meets Simon, and while their relationship is filled with tender moments, it is marked by external pressures, secrets and the fear of public discovery.
Bonding Series
Set against the unconventional backdrop of New York’s BDSM scene, Bonding follows Tiff Chester, a student by day and dominatrix by night. She enlists Peter, her best friend from high school, to be her assistant, and as she leads him into the world of fetishes, he is forced to confront his own insecurities. The biggest disappointment of this series is that the episodes are painfully short, 15 minutes each. Fingers crossed for a second season.
Series Diary of a Gigolo
Diary of a Gigolo (Diario de un Gigolo ) is a Spanish-language drama that explores betrayal, emotional entanglement, and desire. Emmanuel is a charming, successful male escort whose job it is to please wealthy clients while keeping them at arm’s length. But when his boss, Minou, asks him to seduce Julia, his commitment to emotional detachment is derailed as he begins to develop real feelings for her.
Grey’s Anatomy
“What’s with all that SEX???” asked one user on the greysanatomy subreddit
. Yes, there are plenty of hot scenes in this beloved medical series. Sure, the medical staff aren’t actually making love all over the hospital, as the series suggests, but where’s the escape from reality? There’s Meredith and Derek in the shower, Miranda and Ben with their will-it-won’t-it relationship that eventually culminated, and so much more. We could go on, but it’s best if you watch it yourself.
Sex, Love & Goop Series
Who said studying isn’t sexy? Look, there have been many times when we should be wary of Gwyneth Paltrow and her version of “science,” but in the case of Sex, Love & Goop , this series is worth watching. Couples explore their sexuality and discover a deeper level of intimacy. It’s a topic we’re talking about more and more, but there’s still room for improvement. It’s not sexy in the classic sense, but watching this series might start conversations you’ve been wanting to have, or inspire sexual adventures you didn’t even know you wanted.
Tiny Pretty Things
Tiny Pretty Things falls into the “so bad it’s good” category, but it’s also the sexiest show of 2020, according to one reviewer. The action takes place in the world of ballet, and the story begins with the mysterious death of the most talented ballerina of the dance school. There’s rivalry, jealousy—think Black Swan mixed with Pretty Little Liars . And, let’s not forget, the first episode already has, like, four sex scenes in 40 minutes.
