Balmain created a new Lion King special series, which was personally designed by the team led by brand creative director Oliver Rousteing. He shared that he was only 9 years old when “The Lion King” was released. Even after 30 years, he still only needs to close his eyes to Recalling the blend of music, images and emotions in the movie, “When I sat there and watched it with all my concentration, everything that happened on the huge screen shocked me. The insights I gained from the movie stayed with me throughout my life.” It’s not just Balmain. Iconic tailoring and exquisite decorative techniques are integrated into the series. Oliver Rousteing also examines his own experience through this series: Oliver Rousteing was adopted by a white family since he was a child. His biological parents were originally from Somalia and Ethiopia.

The Disney×Balmain Lion King limited series not only combines Balmain’s representative tailoring and style, but also invites many new generation African-American artists to collaborate and participate.

The emotion is reflected in the love for African craftsmanship, and Africa’s amazing weaving techniques, charming patterns, embroidery and exquisite tailoring have also become important sources of inspiration for this limited series. This collaboration also invited many young African artists to participate. South African painter Nika Mtwana created fascinating Afrofuturistic portraits for the series, and incorporated classic scenes from “The Lion King” through the reflection of the sunglasses on the characters’ faces; Cameroonian painter Enfant Precoce is more focused on the protagonist “Simba” in the story.

The Disney×Balmain Lion King limited series not only combines Balmain’s representative tailoring and style, but also invites many new generation African-American artists to collaborate and participate.

From his works, you can see the little lion king strutting in a dreamy landscape filled with various African wild animals; South African painter Cassius Khumalo uses the lion queen “Nana” “Na” is the protagonist, using bright blue, black and gold foil to create a full-style portrait, and integrate it into the clothing and bags of the series.

The Disney×Balmain Lion King limited series not only combines Balmain’s representative tailoring and style, but also invites many new generation African-American artists to collaborate and participate.

The brand also invited the famous film director Femi Oladigbolu to shoot in different scenes in Cape Town, South Africa for this series of blockbusters. The campaign and short film invited 30 models from Africa to form the “Balmain Army”. In the short film, they traveled through different scenes and finally arrived at the joyful homecoming celebration.

The Disney×Balmain Lion King limited series not only combines Balmain’s representative tailoring and style, but also invites many new generation African-American artists to collaborate and participate.

They perfectly combined the magnificent natural beauty with the eye-catching tailoring and patterns of the limited series. Integrated with colors.
