While attending the premiere of “Blink Twice” in New York on August 22, she was spotted wearing a taupe mini-dress, black heeled sandals and a baguette bag in the same shade. A classic and elegant silhouette that is reminiscent of the one worn by Carrie Bradshaw – played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker – in Sex and the City.
It was in episode 15 of the second season of the cult series of the 1990s that Carrie Bradshaw wore an outfit similar to Emily Ratajkowski’s. Having just left her boyfriend, the novelist Vauhgn Wysel, the columnist took a little stroll through the streets of Manhattan in a tight tank dress, beige strappy heeled sandals and a matching Gucci bag.
The next scene where she accidentally bumps into her friends, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, in a downtown restaurant, and she frantically taps on the window to greet them has remained etched in our memories.
Emily Ratajkowski: a fan of Carrie Bradshaw looks
This isn’t the first time Emily Ratajkowski has appropriated Carrie Bradshaw’s unique style. In 2022, she shared photos on her Instagram account of an evening dress inspired by the one worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in episode 17 of season 3. It’s the newspaper-print dress from the Dior fall-winter 2000-2001 collection designed by John Galliano. Instantly recognizable, this look created by costume designer Patricia Field is probably one of the most iconic of the American series.
A few days later, Emily Ratajkowski once again drew inspiration from the famous journalist’s wardrobe for Vogue World in New York. She opted for an oversized striped Bottega Veneta shirt, adjusted with a belt from the Italian luxury house. An outfit that instantly recalls Carrie Bradshaw’s in season 3, who wore a shirt stolen from Mr. Big, which she accessorized with a black Hermès belt and vertiginous pumps. An undisputed icon of the 1990s, Carrie Bradshaw continues to fascinate the fashion world with her avant-garde looks.
