Although there are many alternatives to animal milk (almond milk , coconut milk, soy milk, etc.), oat milk is probably our favorite, for its smooth and neutral taste, as well as its ability to make coffee pure pleasure. At breakfast , on the way to work or during the afternoon break, oat milk literally accompanies us all day, but as experts advise , we should probably avoid it.
Why should we limit the consumption of oat milk?
Oat milk is made from oats, a grain rich in starch, which means it contains a lot of glucose. Glucose is therefore the one responsible for the increase in blood sugar levels , an increase which in turn is responsible for cravings, low energy, fatigue, acne, poor sleep and lack of clarity.

Experts draw attention to the amount of sugar in the blood for everyone, and not only for diabetics as is common. On Instagram, biochemist Jessie Inchauspé – known by the nickname Glucose Goddess – gives her three million followers tips every day on how to keep blood sugar levels stable.
The alternatives
As we understand, as much as we love oat milk, it is good to limit it. The best alternatives are cow’s milk for non-vegans, but of course also nut milks, which are very low in starch, making them a better choice for balancing glucose levels.
For the most dedicated fans
If you don’t want to completely eliminate oat milk from your diet, there is a way to moderate its effects. Definitely, avoid consuming it on an empty stomach (a good time is after breakfast) and try to go for a walk after consuming it.
