The fruit that helps me feel full and calm at night is the banana
Until recently eating a banana during the night was not in my plans. This is a fruit that I used for lunch or in the afternoon, as it is known to fight fluid retention and prevent bloating in the abdomen. But one night, as I wasn’t full from dinner, I decided to eat a banana and the truth is that I slept better than ever. It may be a coincidence but I repeated this movement the following evenings and saw a difference in my well-being. Somehow it became a habit.
It doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me, as banana is a filling fruit that curbs hunger after a light dinner, has a sweet taste that fights the need for dessert, and can keep us from temptation. ” Bananas reduce stress thanks to their tryptophan content, which helps produce serotonin (hormone of joy). In addition, the banana is rich in carbohydrates and natural fibers, which is why it creates a feeling of satiety. The potassium and magnesium contained in the banana relax the muscles,” explains María José Crispín, doctor and nutritionist at Clínica Menorca.
Of course, it does not mean that banana causes sleepiness, but it has properties and vitamins that relax the nervous system and lead to relaxation. Nutritionist Laura Parada emphasizes: “Bananas contain a small amount of tryptophan and we need to consume a lot of them for our body to produce melatonin and serotonin.”
Banana at night
This fruit may have been linked to caloric intake, however no research shows that it increases weight. Bananas have been misunderstood when compared to other fruits, for example 100 grams of apple contain 50 calories, while 100 grams of banana contain 90. So you can consume it without guilt, the main thing is to stick to a balanced diet.
