You see we are women who love art and of course travel. Listed below are some shiny new institutions of high architecture, showcasing some of the world’s most recognizable art. All that’s left is to decide where to go first.

One hundred and fifty years after opening its doors, the Art Gallery of New South Wales has undergone a major refurbishment and expansion.

The most notable addition to the institution, which has historically focused on European art, is the Sydney Modern Project, which nearly doubled the museum’s square footage. Designed by Japanese firm SANAA, the self-contained building houses the Yiribana Gallery, a space dedicated to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.

Doha Museum of Islamic Art

When the IM Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art first opened in 2008, just months before Pei’s 92nd birthday, it was the first major project in Qatar to set architecture-loving hearts aflutter. Now, after an extensive renovation project, its impressive interiors look better than ever.

Design Museum Denmark – Copenhagen

Building a museum from scratch is a Herculean effort. But renewing a heritage museum is also not an easy task. Last summer, the Design Museum in Denmark reopened its doors after a two-year renovation. Its historic collections sit alongside exhibitions that address contemporary global challenges such as climate change.

Of course, no visit is complete without a walk in the courtyard garden of the museum, with the sculptures. If you find yourself in the museum, we also recommend a visit to its gift shop. It is full of books and ceramics that you would like for your home. It is definitely one of the museums worth visiting if you are in the country.
