Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest filmmakers to ever step behind the camera, and his legendary work dates back over 50 years to Jaws. Spielberg is now 79 years old, but the multi-time Oscar-winner is showing no signs of slowing down, as he continues to release new movies every few years. He’s also heavily involved in all corners of Hollywood as a producer, including on his latest Netflix original miniseries, The Dinosaurs. Morgan Freeman narrates the Jurassic documentary, which is topping streaming charts around the world. Spielberg is also famous for his work directing Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones movies. It’s been eight years since Steven Spielberg directed a sci-fi movie, with his most recent outing in the genre coming in 2018 with Ready Player One. Now, he’s set to return to the world of sci-fi with one of the most anticipated movies of 2026.
It was reported back in 2024 that Spielberg’s next movie was going to be another sci-fi film based around UFO’s, but everyone involved in the project remained particularly quiet until Universal Studios officially announced the film as Disclosure Day last year. Spielberg is directing the new alien invasion movie with a script from his long-time collaborator, David Koepp, and the film will take place on Earth the day humans discover that they aren’t alone in the universe. Disclosure Day’s ensemble cast includes Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt in leading roles, with Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell, and Colman Domingo in supporting roles. Before Disclosure Day hits theaters everywhere this summer on June 12, Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the film, which can be found below. Fans may yet be in for another Steven Spielberg sci-fi classic.
