The Civil Guard released the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales after taking his statement after being detained as soon as he landed at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport from the Dominican Republic .
According to sources close to the case, agents from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the armed institute told EFE that they took him to Civil Guard facilities at the airport , identified him , seized his mobile devices and took his statement , as he had requested. the judge investigating him.
Now it will be the one who decides when to summon the former president of the RFEF, from whom in the Dominican Republic the agents seized electronic devices and documentation in the registry of his accommodation in that country.
Rubiales was arrested as soon as he landed at terminal 1 of the airport, where a van from the armed institute was waiting for him in which he was taken to the Civil Guard offices in Barajas.
The purpose of the arrest was to read him his rights, interrogate him and intercept his mobile devices.
Luis Rubiales had planned to return to Spain from the Dominican Republic this Saturday, although he brought forward his return to Spain to this Wednesday precisely one day after UCO agents registered his home in the Caribbean country where he had resided for a few months.
However, his defense sources indicated that his desire was to return as soon as possible and that he still does not have any court summons.
