As long as you have the core essentials, you can build the rest of your wardrobe around it. I’m absolutely a minimalist when it comes to dressing. My focal point is neutral tones, an array of tailored pieces and more oversized silhouettes. Boxy blazers, crisp white shirts and straight-leg jeans will forever hold a place in my heart (and wardrobe.) Their ability to seamlessly blend with any outfit is key for me and allows me to reduce my consumption and focus on wearable, versatile pieces that will last.

One key item I reach for season after season are my leather trousers. I have a straight-leg black pair from H&M that I’ve had in my wardrobe for a few years now, but there’s no such thing as too many. This year, I’m even tempted to embrace some colour into my wardrobe and invest in a burgundy pair. Their versatility allows them to be styled in so many different ways, whether it’s with a basic tee and oversized blazer for a night out, a tucked in graphic tee for the office or a silky cami and slingback heels for a birthday bash.

We’ve pulled together 5 outfit ideas for you to try when investing in leather trousers.

With a matching blazer

One way to incorporate leather trousers into your every day style is opting for a matching blazer. Tailored pieces are a quick, easy option for an instantly chic, put together look and we’d style with pointed slingback heels for a sleek finish.

With an oversized tee

Tucking in an oversized slogan t-shirt gives a more casual feel. Just add a pair of trainers for running errands, and dress up with heels if you want to take your look from day to night. Pick out colours from your tee for your accessories for a cohesive look.

Keep it tonal

Tamara Kalinic oozes elegance in this chic, tonal Fendi look. Match your accessories and top to the colour of your leather trousers for an overall tonal look. We love how Tamara has styled the black blazer to complement the black on her top.

As a matching co-ord

A co-ord is a go-to for us for an effortless look. Sophie Sss matching set has a slight texture to add depth to her outfit and give it a more luxe finish.

Keep it monochrome

A monochrome look is a great way to integrate leather trousers into your every day style and also makes it office appropriate. We’d take inspo from Heart Evangelista and style with a buttoned up shirt and pointed heels.

As leather trousers are always on the pricier side, I always recommend trying them on in-store to find your perfect pair. That way, you can ensure the colour, fit and style of them is perfect for you. When finding that, they’ll be a core piece you’ll be reaching for for years to come.

Remember When Gigi Recreated Kim’s Taped-Up Look At Vetements

Kim Kardashian’s wild Balenciaga autumn/winter show look has since faded into the canon of wild Kim looks with her veiled Met Gala 2021 moment and her ode to Marilyn Monroe a year later. When Gigi Hadid cropped up on the Vetements spring/summer 2025 runway at Paris Fashion Week wearing a similar packing-tape yellow get-up, it brought memories of Kim ASMR-ing her way into Le Bourget back again. The Vetements X DHL link-up actually harks back to the spring 2016.
