Meloni at Fieracavalli: “The supply chain that gives us satisfaction”

The horse industry is ” a sector that continues to give us satisfaction, despite the challenging times we are experiencing ,” said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, visiting the stands at Fieracavalli. The event “shows how central Italy is to this sector, employing 100,000 people, including related industries, and generating a turnover of €3 billion.”

Among the stands visited was that of the social cooperative Ape’nDown, which provides employment opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities. ” It’s a sector ,” Meloni emphasized, ” that needs to be encouraged, especially given the difficulties we face, especially among young people these days.”

Meloni: “The Fair demonstrates how central Italy is to this supply chain.”

Meloni: “No to austerity policies, responsibility without wasting resources.”

“I don’t think Minister Giorgetti’s approach is too rigorous, in which case mine would be too, because we’ve shared the work we’ve done over the years. I think that, in the context in which we operate, having done everything we could to help citizens and businesses, allocating resources where they belonged, but without wasting resources, as we’ve often seen in past years, is simply a matter of responsibility, and an approach that, above all, safeguards Italians’ savings. I believe it should be championed,” the Prime Minister said during the press briefing upon her arrival at Veronafiere, adding: “And I’m also pleased with a budget law that manages to address wages, citizens’ health, families, encouraging birth rates, companies that hire, those that invest, young people, and many other issues. So, without pursuing a rigorous policy, but without wasting resources on useless measures either . “

Selfies, applause, autographs, and a ride for the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was greeted with a flurry of selfies and applause as she visited the stands at Veronafiere. The prime minister attended an equestrian display at the Masaf stand. Afterward, she mounted a horse inside a paddock at the same stand. Afterward, between selfies, she exited to the outdoor area and entered a paddock with some ponies.

Giorgia Meloni in Verona: “Hacker attacks are a concern.”

The recent hacking attacks in Europe ” clearly should be concerning ,” said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, on the sidelines of her visit to Fieracavalli. ” Investigators are working. We can’t say whether the plasma attack in France, or the false bomb threats on airplanes, or the attacks on food supplies are all connected, but they’re all telling us the same thing,” Meloni added. She continued: “Today, it’s civilian infrastructure that’s under attack. I’m sorry to have to reiterate this, but this brings back a point I’ve been trying to make for some time: when we talk about defense and security spending in a time like this, we’re not simply talking about weapons, we’re talking about making citizens’ daily lives safe.”

Ely and her mini ponies: the story of a special rehabilitation at Fieracavalli

At the Healthcare & Leisure Pavilion, the story of Elisabetta, 12, and her mini ponies Blizzard and Melody illustrates the contribution of Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI) to rehabilitation. Born with a serious congenital heart disease, Ely found contact with horses and the movement of the saddle to help her improve her posture, muscles, and independence. Blizzard, who arrived in 2025 thanks to a donation from the Summano Mini Pony Farm, and Melody are also with her at Fieracavalli, where their experience was the focus of a meeting sponsored by the Veneto Region and the farm.

The richness and tradition of Italian horse racing

MASAF’s presence at Fieracavalli 2026 showcases Italian horse racing in all its dimensions: sporting, breeding, scientific, economic, and cultural. From the finals of the Italian horse circuits to the promotion of the “Cavallo da Sella Italiano” brand, from celebrations of equestrian history, with a special focus on Varenne, to equestrian demonstrations and activities aimed at younger audiences, the program highlights the excellence and traditions of the sector.

Alongside entertainment and competitions, there’s also space for research, genetic selection, health protection, and anti-doping controls, as well as animal welfare and the rehabilitation of horses at the end of their careers. Seminars, institutional meetings, and services for professionals complete a program that engages the entire supply chain.

The goal is to promote a modern and competitive horse racing system capable of innovation, enhancing national breeding, and recognizing the horse’s sporting, productive, social, and cultural role.
