If the thought of strapping on a pair of heels sounds more like a torture ritual, but the ballet flats in your closet are begging for a break, Hailey Bieber has the solution for you. The model stepped out in a pair of shoes on Wednesday that every flat enthusiast needs in their closet this fall.
Bieber was seen out in Los Angeles, where she was photographed in a causal but stylish outfit. Kelly green Chanel shoulder bag added a pop of color while a pair of mules grounded her.
Now, at first glance, these shoes look like they have the form of a pair of hotel slippers, but closer inspection reveals them to be the Penelope mules from The Row. In practice, these low-effort shoes add an air of coolness to a look, especially an already laid-back one like Bieber’s tee and pants. They’re chic, but simple, and most importantly, they’re comfortable. For those who are tired of turning to ballet flats for every casual afternoon stroll or last-minute dinner, these mules provide a similarly low-effort alternative, with an added unexpected nature.
Bieber isn’t the first to champion the style. Jennifer Lawrence was spotted wearing a very similar pair last spring while strolling around New York, proving their utility. Even better, at just about $12, Lawrence’s pair carries a much more reasonable price tag. Now, thanks to Bieber’s seal of approval, though, they’re sure to be everywhere very soon. If we know Bieber, we know she’s able to start a trend with just one outing.
