Sued since 2024 by his former assistant Lauren Pisciotta, who accused him of harassment and sexual assault, Kanye West has finally reached a settlement with the plaintiff. This outcome puts an end to the legal proceedings, though the details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Kanye West will ultimately not go to court in this case. More than two years after his former personal assistant, Lauren Pisciotta, filed a particularly damning lawsuit, the American rapper and the young woman have reached an agreement . This decision brings to a close a legal battle that has been closely followed in the United States. As revealed by TMZ, the two parties reached an agreement on July 23. Documents filed in a Los Angeles court indicate that this agreement is ” unconditional ” and that a formal request to dismiss the case must be filed within 45 days of that date. For now, the terms of this settlement remain confidential.
What accusations from Lauren Pisciotta were directed at Kanye West?
Lauren Pisciotta, who worked with Kanye West between July 2021 and October 2022, filed a lawsuit in 2024. In her complaint, she accused the artist of sexual harassment, sexual assault, breach of contract, and wrongful termination . The influencer claimed that the rapper had sent her numerous sexually explicit messages and videos during their collaboration. She also alleged that he had sexually assaulted her during a hotel stay before falling asleep in the middle of a conversation. The plaintiff further claimed that she had been drugged without her knowledge during a studio session she co-hosted with Sean Combs, better known as P. Diddy. In a later version of her complaint, Lauren Pisciotta also explained that Kanye West became particularly persistent after she refused to have an intimate relationship with him. For his part, the rapper has always rejected these accusations, calling them “baseless“.
This new case adds to the numerous controversies surrounding the rapper.
While this case has ended today without a trial, it’s not the first to target Kanye West. A woman named Jenn An accused him of sexual assault in 2010, also claiming to have suffered physical abuse at his hands. Over the years, Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband has also been the subject of several lawsuits filed by former collaborators, notably concerning accusations of discrimination and poor working conditions. In addition, his numerous antisemitic and racist statements have led to his being largely ostracized by a portion of the music industry and many brands. By reaching this agreement with Lauren Pisciotta, Kanye West avoids a trial that could have publicly exposed new revelations about this affair. But while the legal aspect now seems closed, this new controversy further tarnishes the image of an artist whose legal and media scandals now often overshadow his musical career.
