Prince Joachim’s eldest son has just settled in the Big Apple and has received a visit from the youngest member of the family.
“My first full day in New York,” Count Nicholas excitedly shared on social media two weeks ago, along with a photo of himself in the city of skyscrapers. In doing so, he announced his new destination , where he will reside for an indefinite period with his girlfriend, Benedikte Thoustrup, continuing the nomadic lifestyle the couple has led in recent years. This past weekend, the 26-year-old royal also enjoyed a heartwarming reunion in the American metropolis with his sister Athena (14), acting as the best possible guide for her through the streets of Manhattan.

A very special visit that Prince Joachim’s eldest son (56 ) used to show the youngest member of the family some of the most iconic places in the Big Apple, posing for photos together, very affectionate and smiling, as they strolled through the heart of the popular American city. For the occasion, they both wore comfortable clothes: jeans and jackets, while he completed his look with a baseball cap. Furthermore, as they posed for the camera, Frederik X’s nephew held a typical plastic takeaway coffee cup so he could enjoy it at his leisure at every step.
Since graduating with a degree in Business Administration and Service Management from Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Nicolas de Monpezat has been a frequent traveler, spending extended periods of time wherever he chooses. Always accompanied by his girlfriend, he has been seen spending winters in Australia, summers at his paternal grandmother’s Château de Cayx in France, and spring and autumn in his native Denmark. A great fashion enthusiast ( he even walked the runway for Dior in Paris), he is undoubtedly the most well-traveled of Queen Margrethe’s eight grandchildren (86).

On that special day, the youngest member of the family wore a beautiful white sleeveless dress with a low back and ankle-length hem. It was an intimate and private ceremony officiated by the pastor and former Nordic minister, Esben Lunde Larsen, quite different from the one held weeks earlier by her cousins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine , whose similar religious ceremony became one of the major royal events of the year in the Scandinavian country (with King Felipe VI in attendance).
For Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark, significant changes are on the horizon. These changes come after it was confirmed a few months ago that next summer, they and their children will permanently leave the U.S. capital, where the Danish monarch’s brother serves as defense industry attaché. The move will take place in August 2027, when his contract with his current position expires. “The most important thing for me and my family is what lies ahead,” the sovereign’s sister-in-law told Billed Bladet magazine, referring to her eagerness to return home to her loved ones.
