But this bottle of homegrown red has just taken home the title of France’s best Pinot Noir, and a bottle will only set you back $25.

The Beyond the Wilderness Pinot Noir was awarded a Double Gold medal at the Paris International Wine Competition, achieving the highest score of 96 points.

And it’s not the first time the bottle has won big, also taking home the gold medal at the 2023 awards.

If you’re wondering who could possibly be qualified to decide on the best Pinot Noit in Australia? Well, it’s a panel of people well versed in the area.

The expert judging panel was comprised of industry buyers, with the Paris International Wine Competition regarded as a respected event in the International Beverage Competition Series.

This year, the judges tasted more than 1000 wines from around the world across 50 different categories.

Overall, Coles Liquor Group cleaned up at the awards with two gold medals, three silver and three bronze.

“We’re thrilled to have taken home a total of 11 awards at the Melbourne International Wine Competition, with all of them coming in under $30,” said Coles Liquor General Manager of Customer Loyalty Mia Lloyd.

“Our achievements are proof that award-winning wine doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. We couldn’t be prouder to showcase the exceptional wines from our local suppliers which clearly punch well above the price points.

“The Beyond the Wilderness Pinot Noir, at just $25, is a deliciously light red with hints of fresh cherries and soft plum. Its fruity flavour pairs well with a variety everyday food from a grilled salmon, roast chicken or a tomato basil pasta.”
