In this day and age, if you ask someone where their outfit is from, it is more than likely that at least one article is second-hand. Be that a hand-me-down, charity shop find or swipe from an online re-seller, as we become more conscious about the damage fast fashion can produce, our shopping habits change. This is a shift German e-seller Zalando is more than await of. Already the site has a dedicated page for second-hand styles, allowing shoppers to sell on thier unwanted fashion in exchange for a gift card, but now it is upping the ante.

Zalando has teamed up with seller Vestiaire Collective to bring the label’s authenticated selection of luxury fashion directly to millions of Zalando customers, allowing shoppers to access unique items from over 50 iconic brands. “We are thrilled to launch this authenticated luxury assortment with Vestiaire Collective as our first pre-owned partner,” says Alice Marshall, director of pre-owned at Zalando. “Demand for high-quality pre-owned fashion keeps growing. By adding authenticated luxury to the mix and pairing it with Zalando’s unmatched convenience, we aim to encourage even more customers to explore second-hand shopping.”

Customers will now be able to shop second-hand with peace of mind, knowing the shirt they purchased is actually from Dior, Celine really did make that skirt, and that belt was from Gucci, all with Zalando’s 30-day return window. And fret not, any returned item is physically re-authenticated before going back on sale, ensuring a continuous standard of quality.

“We are excited to partner with Zalando to continue democratising authenticated pre-owned luxury for millions of customers across Europe,” says Thomas Hezard, chief product officer at Vestiaire Collective. “This partnership opens the door for a new generation of customers to discover and engage with luxury fashion through pre-owned, meeting them where they already shop.”
