Not Always Effective: Why Laser Hair Removal Doesn’t Work

We talked with hair removal specialist Alexandra Romeo from FOREO, who told us why sometimes we don’t see the effect of the procedure.

The procedure is not always pleasing with the result

The wizard does not set individual settings

This is also possible, although it seems that customization for each client is an obvious point. “A competent hairdresser always takes into account the amount of melanin in the skin and the hair itself. Pays attention to skin color – the lighter the skin, the greater the likelihood of side effects from an incorrectly configured laser. And yet, the device practically does not pick up light hairs,” comments Alexandra a specialist hair removal developer from FOREO. Do not hesitate to learn about the features of the device before the procedure.

You don’t follow the schedule

With a competent approach, the specialist will select an individual program for you, depending on the treatment area and your color type. The average number of sessions is 7. Alexandra: “Many people miss several months in a row, after which they wonder why the hair doesn’t go away quickly. The effectiveness of laser hair removal depends both on the specialist and on the consciousness of the client.”

Hormonal changes

Taking certain medications, especially hormonal ones, may reduce the effectiveness of the procedure. As our expert says, until about 35 years of age, our body is at its maximum production of hormones, and is also most susceptible to hormonal changes. “Hormonal treatment or sudden natural changes in hormonal levels often negatively affect the effect. You can undergo a course of laser hair removal, but during pregnancy, for example, some of the hair will return under the influence of raging hormones,” warns Alexandra.

The idea came after Sofia Coppola, daughter of generalist who proposed it to a start up and wanted to improve her skin, but couldn’t find anything that worked for her.
