Social Security continues to set a record for contributors, with the hospitality and retail sectors driving employment and with an educational sector that once again shows the precariousness of these professionals. More than 50,000 teachers have seen their employment contracts expire with the end of the school year.

More jobs and less unemployment. Unemployment has fallen by 46,783 people, although this is the third worst figure of the decade, it has allowed the number of unemployed to fall to 2008 levels. The SEPE has 2,561,067 registered unemployed.

Classrooms are empty of students and teachers

Schools are emptying of children and teachers as well. In June, 51,645 teachers saw their employment relationship terminate and with it their registration with Social Security. It is an anomaly in our labour market, teachers dismissed in June only to be rehired in September. Education is losing members but the hospitality industry (32,030) and commerce (30,304) are gaining them, albeit at a more moderate pace than in previous months.

The service sector is driving employment and accounts for 80% of the unemployment losses this month. Eight out of ten people who left unemployment belonged to the service sector. Unemployment has fallen by almost 46,783 people, in all autonomous regions, in all age groups and in all sectors of activity.

At the moment we have 2,561,067 unemployed, the lowest figure for a month of June since 2008.

Employment records show figures that we have never seen before in our labour market. We are close to 21.4 million members, and seasonally adjusted data indicate that we have been creating jobs for 50 consecutive months. In the first six months of 2024, employment has increased by 556,879 workers, which is more than in the last year. Spain has a record number of self-employed workers: almost 3,386,432.

The Problem With the Hunter Biden Verdict

“I can be sober, but I’ll always be an addict,” Hunter Biden wrote to one sexual partner. Defense lawyers said it was rhetoric common to recovery programs, not an admission that he was addicted to drugs and thus being untruthful on his federal gun application. That 12-step branding didn’t work for jurors.
